This bibliography contains the compilation of works that served as direct inspiration and first-hand resources to the creation and brainstorming of this project. They range from books and scholarly papers to blogs, video entries and conferences. This website serves as a way to express the findings of this research process and create a hub that consolidates these resources in a useful way. In this way, readers can start to recognize the
current trends of architecture in Latin America, informality, and the design for social engagement. It is a partial goal of this project to both become part of the recent conversation about a new type of architectural practice and a way to rediscover the practice of social design as one that has been creating meaningful impact for a long time.
Most people, when they think about Latin America and the many countries that comprise it, have a general conception of it ridden in poverty and instability. Yet, when one pays close attention to the initiatives being developed, the sources, people and events taking place one can see the rich and valuable economy of relevant social solutions and that make Latin America instrumental and powerful to the social and artistic movements seeking to reinsert social sensibilities to architecture.
The goal of this bibliography is not merely to track the conception of this project but better yet, to inspire and educate students, practitioners, and designers about the changing arena of social design and give them relevant sources that further, inspire, and introduce them to this current discourse.
